Illegal Online Casino Gambling – the Controversial Issue

The topic of online casino gambling has been recently very popular. Nobody knows what will be the final decision of American legislators about the online casino industry. We can only wait for this decision which, as we all know, might change the online gambling industry completely. In July, members of federal government attacked the online gambling once more, and added an anti-gambling bill. The bill was created to stop US citizens from spending their money on online wagering. If the bill passed, it would cause that distribution of payments to online gaming sites by American-based banks and credit cards companies is illegal. This situation will certainly bring the online gambling activities in the US to a halt. The new legislation has been backed up by The House of Representatives. But the online casino owners still hope that US officials will understand their arguments. They are deeply convinced that online gambling is just a kind of traditional gambling. There is no difference between going to land-based casino or using your laptop to visit an online casino. The chances of winning or losing are the same and it should depend only on players where to spend their money. Opponents of online casino gambling claim that online gambling is dangerous, may lead to addiction and might be used for underage gambling. What is more, they are convinced that the revenues are feeding offshore companies, which is destructive for the US economy.
Nowadays, there are 2,300 online gaming sites active all over the world, and we can clearly observe that there are actions taken in order to stop further growth. In Italy, for example, all online gaming sites licensed outside the country are going to be banned, which forces ISP’s to block certain sites. All we can do is to wait for the American Senate’s decision which can change the online casino industry irretrievably.
